i've tried the osada's hyperdrive for a while and it works as advertised. with a few contacts in the mastodon universe posts in my stream exploded and i had to restrain it with graduated affinity settings for contacts and varying slider settings.
that's more trouble than i'm willing to take in the long run, and i'm probably too old for this shit. half of the things being shot off in minute-intervals from mastodon and similar apps i don't even understand without some research, and i can live without all the LGBT drama that dominates at least some of the nodes.
i have no problem with LGBT at all. everyone should do what makes them happy, among consenting adults, without tying that to the legal adulthood limits; emphasis on "consenting." but continued flame-wars about the issue, what's the point? it's fine if you love women, men, or turtles for all i care, but that others don't like the idea is fine for them, too. just leave each other alone. freedom of thought and speech works in all directions.
so i switched off my hyperdrive after a week or so. as i said, i'm too old for the fast-paced, twitter-like communication it draws in and prefer to pick my contacts slowly, grumpy old man who i am. but i believe it's great for others who aren't as laid-back (or lazy) and like to live life in the fast lane.
